![]() Tranny was changed for model year '05/'06 and then again in '07. Seems the bulk of the transmission problems were in the 2nd generation ody's (99-04). That's enough for me, until I'm ready to buy a new TV.Ĭongrats on your good luck with the tranny. And Honda says that the failure wasn't my fault. īut to the subject, my transmission worked fine, until it didn't. ![]() And I KNOW the importance of actually doing measurements (It's what my career is based on.) But still, I'm sure I'm below my GCVWR & my Tow capacity. I'd like to weigh the PUP this year 'cause I know I've got lots of stuff in it that I haven't estimated properly. The service manager explained to me that this was due to a manufacture defect and had nothing to do with my driving or towing. They connected the OBD computer, read the codes and got me a new transmission and torque converter. I took it to the dealer that had installed the coolers and had done all the service work to date. I think it was about 2 years ago I got transmission problems. #1 is about 60 miles one way to the local SP. That's by calculation I've yet to weigh it all loaded up. Well, I've got an '02 Ody and my PUP weighs between 2500 & 2700 lbs. and malcontent, opinionated and, in my opinion, wildly speculative posts.not all forums are as cool as PUP Lots of info on that site, but you gotta sift through some B.S. I took it right in to the dealer, who listened to my description of the problem, and he immediately scheduled the Torque Converter replacement. Nobody had towed anything with that vehicle yet there was no hitch installed. Right after I bought my 2007 Ody with 35,000 miles, I noticed the "judder" at a certain speed under acceleration. ![]() Honda has been mum as to the cause, but in most all cases willing to perform even out of warranty free replacements. ![]() Others say it has to do with metallurgy within the Transmission. It has been said that this ATF is the weak link. One explanation is that many Ody owners continue to use the Honda brand Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF). Even the '07+ generation with the Ridgeline transmissions have needed torque converters replaced under warranty. Having said all that, yes, there are issues with Odyssey transmissions, and it doesn't seem to be limited to certain generations. Remember that conversely, folks who don't have issues with their vehicles aren't browsing websites looking for problems, and won't even know there are issues. Therefore, you tend to have a concentration of "issues" that appear to represent every vehicle owner's experience. I would keep in mind, however, that when you view a site like this, remember that most times folks post BECAUSE they have a problem and are looking for other folks with similar issues. You'll find a plethora of data, experiences and issues. Any Honda Odyssey owner should check out Click on forums, and look for your "generation", or years of production for you van. ![]()
